Vladimir Putin Tells Megyn Kelly American Hackers May Have “Shifted the Blame” to Russia
“Hackers can be anywhere,” the Russian president told the former Fox News host in an exclusive sit-down interview.Putin, according to Kelly, suggested to her that the CIA could have been behind the hacking scandal surrounding the election. The host also asked if Putin has any damaging information on President Trump, which will be part of the exclusive interview to air on Sunday.
NBC’s Megyn Kelly, in her first major interview at her new home after departing Fox News earlier this year, sat down with Russian President Vladimir Putin in St. Petersburg to discuss the ongoing claims of collusion between his country and Donald Trump’s presidential campaign in 2016.
A “defiant President Putin,” as Kelly referred to him, argued against the claims, positing that American hackers could have been responsible for the release of emails from the DNC and Clinton campaign chairman John Podesta.
“Hackers can be anywhere,” Putin told Kelly. “They can be in Russia, in Asia … even in America, Latin America. They can even be hackers, by the way, in the United States who very skillfully and professionally shifted the blame, as we say, onto Russia. Can you imagine something like that? In the midst of a political battle?”
Putin, according to Kelly, suggested to her that the CIA could have been behind the hacking scandal surrounding the election. The host also asked if Putin has any damaging information on President Trump, which will be part of the exclusive interview to air on Sunday.
Her new series, Sunday Night With Megyn Kelly, premieres June 4 on NBC. She will also be hosting the 9 a.m. hour of Today, beginning in September.
The first episode of her NBC newsmagazine show will also feature interviews with Erin Andrews, who will open up about her battle with cervical cancer and her recent cyberstalking case, as well as J.D. Vance, author of Hillbilly Elegy.
