Golmaal Again box office collection day 3: Ajay Devgn-Rohit Shetty film earns Rs 87.60 crore

Golmaal Again box office collection day 3: This Rohit Shetty film’s multi-star cast which includes names like Ajay Devgn and Parineeti Chopra did help, so did the general appeal of masala comedies, as did good word-of-mouth promotion. It has earned Rs 87.60 crore over the weekend.

Golmaal Again is doing stellar business at the box office. Its multi-star cast did help, so did the general appeal of masala comedies but the movie is also receiving good word-of-mouth promotion which is working in its favour. After opening at Rs 30.14 crore, the movie, which stars Ajay Devgn, Parineeti Chopra and Tabu, has raked in a total weekend collection of Rs 87.60 crore after earning Rs 28.37 crore on Saturday and Rs 29.09 crore on Sunday.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted the figures and said,”#GolmaalAgain Fri 30.14 cr, Sat 28.37 cr, Sun 29.09 cr. Total: ₹ 87.60 cr. India biz… OVERSEAS: $ 3.17 million [₹ 20.62 cr].”

It is not as if this Rohit Shetty directorial with its mass appeal is eating into Secret Superstar’s share. The latter is the only major competition of Golmaal Again and the film seems to be doing well at the box office. We can, therefore, conclude that Bollywood is recovering after some major box-office failures.

Taran Adarsh, in a series of tweets, also told his followers about the combined weekend collection of Golmaal Again and Secret Superstar, which is Rs 121 crore approx. He also said the real test of both the films begins today as it’s on weekdays that it becomes hard for films to lure moviegoers to the theatres. “Diwali weekend has brought abundant cheer and spread sunshine… But real test for #GolmaalAgain and #SecretSuperstar begins today [Mon]…” he said in an another tweet. He also wondered whether both the films will continue their good business in the coming days now that the festive season is over. “Will #GolmaalAgain and #SecretSuperstar maintain the momentum on weekdays? Will the two films put up big numbers? Let’s wait and watch!”Golmaal

In her review of Golmaal Again, Indian Express film critic Shubhra Gupta had said, “For someone like me, no fan of the franchise, there’s usually very little to like in the ‘Golmaal’ films. And this time around too, I had resigned myself to a couple of hours of deja-view. But I have to say that the addition of a few new faces, and moving the location from the beaches of Goa to the green slopes of Ooty, helped freshen things up. And though there were the familiar risible lines about people who can’t speak, and a creepy running thread about older men and girls young enough to be their daughter, the usual slew of jokes were not as tasteless. A couple led to actual laughter.”
